Grand Cata X Credible Fear

Join Grand Cata and the director of Credible Fear for a one-of-a-kind Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Fathom Gallery! We'll be pouring wines exclusively from Latina-owned vineyards, raffling off exciting prizes, and celebrating the intersection of food, immigration, and Latin American culture. Guests will also have a super special send-off!

Fireside chat with Chef Daniella Senior

Daniella is the founder of 5C Hospitality and a restaurateur whose passion for food began at 13, when she launched a catering business in the Dominican Republic. A Culinary Institute of America graduate and Certified Sommelier, she trained at Eric Ripert's Le Bernardin. She led

operations for Jose Andrés' Zaytinya before serving as regional director for Richard Sandoval Restaurants. In 2016, she founded Colada Shop, which operates seven locations in the DMV.

In 2017, she conceptualized and opened the Michelin-starred Bresca; in 2019, she launched Serenata at La Cosecha Market, which became Elegancia in early 2026. She is now opening her newest concept, Bar Nuestro, at Navy Yard. A Forbes Next 1000 honoree and James Beard Women's Leadership Fellow, Daniella is also a Culinary Ambassador for the U.S. Department of State and a passionate advocate for women and minorities in the restaurant industry.

Proceeds of the event will support the forthcoming feature length documentary Credible Fear, directed by local DC filmmaker Gabrielle Ewing.

What's the film about?
When Yojana, a Guatemalan
asylum seeker, and Amy, a DC attorney, match through a pro bono legal aid program in the US's largest immigration detention center, their chance encounter blossoms into a lifelong friendship, forged in their shared determination to find justice. Filmed over eight years, this longitudinal film reveals the intricacies and failures of the asylum system through the intimate journey of one case, serving as a sobering counterpoint to a hyper-politicized and widely misunderstood issue.

Back to School - Back to Basics - September 29th
$25.00

It’s back-to-school season, so let’s get back to basics—and talk about grapes, baby! Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir—you think you know them, but do you really?

This class will explore the foundations of the grape varieties everyone seems to be on a first-name basis with. We’ll dive into their historical origins and follow their journeys around the world, discovering how each grape has left its mark on the places where it’s grown. Along the way, we’ll unpack some of the common misconceptions surrounding these iconic wines.

Perfect for anyone who feels comfortable with the basics of wine but is ready to be challenged and pushed outside their comfort zone. In addition to deepening your knowledge of these classic grapes, we’ll leave you with a list of alternative varietals to explore the next time you’re at the wine shop.
