Mezcal: Mexico in a Bottle was founded in 2014 by Susan Coss and Max Garrone who also write Mezcalistas. We were inspired to create a grand mezcal tasting partially because we just love mezcal; if you read our blog you already know that, if not it’s time to get started because we’re serious evangelists. We’ve hosted tastings since we started Mezcalistas in 2012, everything from large 100 person tastings to pop ups in locations as far flung as San Francisco (where we’re based), LA, and Oaxaca. Which is another way of saying that a big event like Mezcal: Mexico in a Bottle was a natural evolution.
Since the first Mexico in a Bottle we’ve launched many other tastings like our Pop Up Pulqueria series. In 2017 we are launching Mezcal: Mexico in a Bottle tastings in Washington, D.C. on May 1st, Chicago on October 15th, and San Francisco on November 12th. We will be presenting a variety of other tastings, special events tied to our San Francisco tasting, and expanding Mezcal Week across North America.
