Dear Friends of California,

We’ve all heard the harrowing stories of the destructive wildfires in Northern California. We may live miles away, but we all have friends and neighbors who have been affected, and in some cases, lost everything.

We’re a group of Californians living in Washington, D.C. who wanted to do our part. And we could use your help.

Join us for a fundraiser Friday, November 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grand Cata Wine Shop for winetasting, west coast camaraderie, and doing what we can for our out state and our fellow Californians. The event is presented by the UC Davis Alumni Association, DC Chapter (many of us are alumni). Tickets are $25 for wine tasting at Grand Cata, $20 of your ticket will be going to the North Bay Fire Relief coordinated by the Redwood Credit Union.

At the event, we will have giveaways and the opportunity to donate additional funds. We will also have W-9 and doner slips from Redwood Credit Union for your tax-deductible contribution.

Can’t join the fundraiser? Here are other ways you can help.

  • Next time you make an Amazon purchase, consider sending an item to someone who has lost a home. This site aggregates Amazon wish lists for families. Learn more and donate here https://californianstogether.com
  • Redwood Credit Union partnered with Hall Wines to create the Northbay Fire Relief Fund. All money raised will go to help those in greatest need. Learn more and donate here https://rcu-community-fund.squarespace.com/donate
  • Send this email (or a text with a screengrab) to five people you know to help us spread the word. Ask them to join you for the fundraiser on Friday, November 3 and share the other ways to contribute. Studies have shown that people are more likely to act when urged by a friend or family member.

Natural disasters can happen anywhere, anytime, and this time, it was to a place we know and people we love. Let’s do what we can.
